Everything you need to know about Narrowboats
This guide is aimed at those that have seen narrowboats on the water while out and about. Maybe you have been on one for a look and now you want to know more. This will give you a better understanding of your options and tell you what to look out for when choosing/viewing a boat.
So…
The first and most important thing before starting anything is deciding what sort of boater you are going to be. You should be able to loosely categorise yourself into one of these areas:
- Weekend Tripper (short distance trips only to the pub or to get water)
- Holiday Boater (Once or twice a year but longish trips with the kids and family)
- Part Time liveaboard (Maybe spends summer aboard then retreats ashore for the winter)
- Full time liveaboard (You spend all your time on your boat. It is your home)
Things you MUST know/consider when buying your boat are:
Water
Electical
Toilets
Heating
Mooring
See our guide on narrowboat mooring for the full article but to give you an idea of what to expect…
